The path
From Austin to the world stage.
William Tackett was born in Orange County, California, and grew up in Austin, Texas, where he started jiu-jitsu at eight years old alongside his father and brothers.
After beginning at Team Rabadi, he moved to Rodrigo “Brucutu” Cabral’s Brazilian Fight Factory in 2017. He quickly became one of the sport’s standout prospects, competing against adult black belts while still a teenager.
Cabral promoted William to black belt on March 27, 2021. He went on to win the ADCC West Coast Trials twice, compete at ADCC 2022 and the 2024 Craig Jones Invitational, and challenge for UFC BJJ’s inaugural middleweight title in 2025.
