After having to withdraw on WNO 20 due to an injury, my brother, Andrew Tackett brings home the submission win over Tommy Langaker at WNO 23. With Andrew coming off winning the ADCC west coast trials and Tommy winning the 2^nd ADCC European trials, we knew this match was going to be nothing short of a barn burner.

Match Breakdown:

Starting off, Tommy pulled guard, which we were anticipating. From there, Andrew got straight to working his outside passing system and was eventually successful in getting his first guard pass. Tommy was able to recover, but not for long as Andrew continually pressed forward and passed again. Tommy was then forced to turtle in which Andrew was able to secure the back take and after some time fighting Tommy’s back defense, ultimately got the submission, finishing with a rear naked choke.

From the beginning, I predicted the match ending almost exactly like this, however, I did not anticipate just how quickly Andrew would end up finishing the match and securing the win. I also asked Andrew his thoughts:

“I am very happy with my performance. Going into the fight, I knew Tommy had an amazing guard so I had to be sure my passing was on point. In which, it ended up paying off with a submission from the back control…I wouldn’t want it any other way!”
